Simply built and lushly landscaped for beachside living, Honu offers a comfortable living/dining area and convenient kitchen at the center of the house, with two air-conditioned bedrooms and adjoining full-baths on opposite ends for privacy. Hardwood floors, expansive windows and ceiling fans throughout add to your comfort. Mature plantings include Singapore plumeria for lei-making, crown flowers that attract monarch butterflies, tiare gardenia, and fragrant pikake planted just outside the master bedroom.

The home has air conditioning in the bedrooms only.

  We have stayed at Honu House multiple times and it is always perfect! The location is paradise - we spend most of our vacations between the house and the beach. No need to go anywhere else! We love eating on the lanai. The house is spotless with very comfortable beds, good pillows, a well-stocked kitchen, and fragrance-free laundry products. Mary and her team are excellent. We only stay with 2 Papayas when we come to the Big Island.

  Had a wonderful escape to sunny Waialea Bay for some much needed R&R. The house is adorable, updated and clean. Beds are super comfy. The location was perfect for us. Close to the beach yet still private. The yard was cared for nicely and was a great place to sit when the wind picked up. Mary is very communicative and wonderful to work with. Would 100% return in the future.

  We first stayed at the Honu house in 2016 & this is our 4th stay. We have also stayed at least three times at the Ehu Kai house, twice at the Kolea house, and once at the Blue Makai house. As always, the house was perfect and the 2Papayas crew was friendly & helpful. Staying at Beach 69 with 2Papayas is our go-to relaxing vacation. The beach is stunning, with mild to no surf, snorkeling, and plenty of shade. Honu House is perfectly set up for families or two groups traveling together. The kitchen is well-equipped, the beds are very comfortable, and everything is spotless. My favorite feature of staying with 2Papayas is their dedication to using unscented cleaning and laundry products. Vacation rentals often reek of highly scented cleaning products, air fresheners, scented trash bags, dryer sheets, etc. At Honu House, and at the other 2Papayas properties we've stayed at, all you smell is the scent of the plumeria and gardenia being carried on the ocean breeze. We are booked to come back to Honu House paradise in six months.

  It has been a bucket list item to stay on Beach 69 since we were first there 20 years ago. While Hona isn’t directly on the water it was a calm and quiet garden oasis, and a 1 minute walk on a shady path to the beach. The beds were comfortable and we didn’t need to use the A/C during our stay. Mary was very attentive and responsive. It was a lovely week!

  Why would you stay at a resort in a single room walking to a lot to retrieve your car when you could stay in a lovely, clean, 2 bed, 2 bath home with kitchen, carport and lanai, steps from the beach? There's even a yard and outdoor shower. Ocean breezes cooled off the home some days, but when it was too hot, the bedroom AC came in handy. The kitchen is clean and well equipped with updated appliances. The style of the home is laid-back, upscale, beachy. Although updated, it holds some of its original charm with solid wood paneled walls (in the best way, don't ever paint them) and a layout that you don't see in newer homes, but adds to the privacy of the bedrooms. I fell asleep every night on the lanai listening to the ocean waves, which were less than a five minute walk away. The beach is lovely, shaded, and not as busy as neighboring Hapuna.

  Our Family had a great time at Honu House, We love the proximity to the very calm and quiet beach. The house have everything need it for your vacation, and Everything works perfect. Mary and the staff at 2Papayas are very Nice and helpful booking the place for you.
  As a recommendation, I will say, it will be nice if there where some paddle boards or a kayak as a part of the rental.
